World Heritage destinations or World Heritage Sites are called such places, forest area, mountain, lake, desert, monument, building or city etc., which are selected by the 'World Heritage Site Committee' and this committee supervises these sites under the aegis of UNESCO's . UNESCO 'World Heritage Day' is also celebrated on 18th April every year to preserve the cultural-historical sites of the world as heritage. A total of 32 sites of India's historical significance are listed on the World Heritage Sites list. These include 25 cultural, 7 natural categories.
An objective-
The place which is important for humanity from the point of view of world culture, the objective of 'World Heritage Site Committee' is to select and preserve such sites in the world. Financial assistance is also provided to such sites in certain circumstances under this committee.
World Heritage Day Begins-
On 18th April, the 'World Heritage Day' was celebrated for the diversity and protection of cultural-historical and natural heritage for awareness on protected places. A symposium organized by the 'International Council of Mountaineering and Sight' in Tunisia was suggested to celebrate 'World Heritage Day' on April 18, 1982, which was accepted by the Executive Committee. On November 18, 1983, in the 22nd session of the UNESCO Conference, every 18th April passed the proposal to celebrate 'World Heritage Day'.
Work of Heritage Conservation-
Each heritage site is the property of that particular country, in which country it is located. The interest of the international community for the future generations and for the benefit of humanity is also in the interest of protecting them. It is the responsibility of the whole world community to protect it. To protect any heritage, two organizations are assessed by 'International Monuments and Place Council' and 'World Conservation Association'. Then the World Heritage Committee is recommended. The committee settles once a year and decides whether to include any nominated property in the World Heritage List or not. The 'World Heritage Site Committee' oversees the selected locations, such as forest area, mountain, lake, desert, monument, building or city etc. under the aegis of UNESCO.
World Heritage Site
After the United Nations Convention on the Human Environment in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1972 on the proposal of 'International Nature Conservation Association', the General Assembly of UNESCO approved the conference on natural and cultural heritage of the world on November 16, 1972. Given The meeting of 'World Heritage Committee' was started in June 1977.
